Wooster Prep operates an online SAT preparation platform at woosterprep.com. This policy applies to the Service we provide directly to students and families.
Wooster Prep is a direct-to-consumer product for students and families. We collect school name only as a profile field, and we do not knowingly create or maintain student education records on behalf of a school or school district.
For questions, contact hal@woosterprep.com.
2. Information We Collect
Information you give us may include your name, email address, school, grade level, target SAT score, account credentials, date of birth for age-screening, parent or guardian consent information where applicable, support messages, and communications with us.
When paid checkout is enabled, payment details are handled by third-party payment processors. We do not store card or bank details on our servers. We may receive limited transaction information such as amount, currency, billing country, payment status, and transaction reference.
Information generated as you use the Service may include diagnostic answers and scores, mastery-test attempts and scores, full-length practice-test results, concept rankings, projected score-uplift estimates, study activity, feature usage, and timestamps.
Information collected automatically may include IP address, browser type, device identifiers, operating system, general location such as city or region, pages viewed, access times, referring pages, cookies, and similar usage or security data.
If you choose to sign in using a third-party login such as Google, we receive basic account information the provider makes available based on your settings.
3. How We Use Information
We use information to create and operate accounts, deliver diagnostics, generate personalized reports, rank concepts, provide study content, mastery tests, flashcards, concept review decks, and practice exams.
We use information to personalize your experience, process payments where applicable, send verification codes, receipts, account notices, security alerts, and study notifications.
We also use information to maintain security, prevent fraud, abuse, and scraping, use automated and AI-based methods to generate diagnostic results and study plans, analyze and improve the Service, conduct research and development, comply with law, and enforce our Terms.
4. De-identified and Aggregated Data
We may create aggregated or de-identified data, such as combined statistics about how students improve. We remove information that identifies you before treating data as de-identified, and we do not attempt to re-identify it.
We may use and share aggregated or de-identified data for lawful business purposes, including to study, improve, and describe the Service. Any score-uplift figures we publish are anonymized modeled estimates, not guarantees.
5. Cookies and Similar Technologies
We use strictly necessary cookies for authentication and security, functional cookies for preferences, and analytics cookies to understand usage and improve the product. You can control cookies through your browser settings, though blocking necessary cookies may affect functionality.
6. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not knowingly share the personal information of users under 18 with third parties for their own marketing or advertising purposes.
We may share information with service providers that help us operate the platform, including hosting, database, authentication, email delivery, payments, content delivery, security, analytics, background jobs, error monitoring, and support. They may use information only to provide services to us.
We may share information with artificial-intelligence service providers that help power Service features. Our agreements prohibit them from using your data to train their models and require limited retention beyond what is needed to process your request.
We may also share information with professional advisors, authorities when legally required or necessary to protect rights and safety, and business transferees in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets.
7. Children’s and Students’ Privacy
Wooster Prep is intended for high-school students using the Service with the involvement of a parent or legal guardian. No part of the Service is designed or marketed to attract children under 13.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Where we ask for age or date of birth, we do so in a neutral way that does not encourage anyone to misstate their age. If someone indicates they are under 13, we do not let them create an account, and we do not keep the information they entered.
Students aged 13 to 17 may use Wooster Prep only with the consent and involvement of a parent or guardian. Parents and guardians may contact us at hal@woosterprep.com to review their child’s information, request deletion, or refuse further collection.
If you believe a child under 13 has provided us personal information, contact hal@woosterprep.com and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
8. Your Privacy Rights and Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to your personal information, correction, deletion, a portable copy, restriction of or objection to certain processing, or opt out of sale or sharing. Wooster Prep does not sell or share personal information as those terms are commonly defined under US state privacy laws.
You may access or update account information by signing in, opt out of marketing emails, manage cookies through your browser settings, request deletion, close your account, or decline to provide information, though some information is needed to provide the Service.
To exercise a privacy right, contact hal@woosterprep.com. We may need to verify your identity before responding, and we will respond within the time required by applicable law.
9. Data Retention
We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy. We do not retain it indefinitely.
We retain payment, tax, and legal records as required by law. When information is no longer needed, we delete or de-identify it unless a legal obligation requires us to keep it longer.
10. How We Protect Information
We maintain a written information-security program with safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information we handle. Passwords are hashed and are not stored in plain text. Payment card data is handled by payment processors and does not pass through Wooster Prep servers.
Our safeguards include encryption in transit, access controls, signed or expiring asset URLs where appropriate, rate limiting, bot protection, restricted administrative access, and audit logging. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
11. International Users and Data Transfers
We are based in the United States and may process information in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. If you use the Service from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to and processed in countries whose data-protection laws may differ from those where you live.
12. Do Not Track
Wooster Prep does not currently respond to browser Do Not Track signals because no common standard has been adopted.
13. Third-Party Links
The Service may link to third-party sites, including official testing resources. We are not responsible for their privacy practices, and you should review their policies separately.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new effective date and, where required, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
15. How to Contact Us and Raise a Complaint
For privacy questions or requests, contact hal@woosterprep.com. If you have a complaint and we are unable to resolve it, you may contact your state or local consumer protection office or the U.S. Federal Trade Commission.
